GB-Sol's PV Slates are the "solar tiles" featured in Geoff Wood's amazing cantilevered house in Essex on Grand Designs - first shown in 13th October 2021.
Our solar panels also feature in the 2017 Blackdown Hills episode, on an amazing, curving, shell-shaped building with matching curved solar panels.
GB-Sol are well known in the solar industry for our pioneering integrated solar roof systems and the solar panels we make for tough environments like the North Sea. Now we bring that quality approach and expertise to a truly British made framed solar panel.
We are now fitting x338 of our largest solar PV Slates to Barnes Methodist Church in west London, discretely generating 12kW of solar power on this wonderful listed building.
The new roof can be seen from the B349 Station Road side of the church. The trustees of the church decided to use GB-Sol PV Slates after Richmond Council determined that putting conventional solar panels over the roof of this historic building was not appropriate
With support from the Welsh Government, the Rhondda housing association RHA Wales have engaged GB-Sol to retrofit Welsh made solar panels and batteries on 12 houses in Llanharry As well as reducing energy bills and carbon emissions, the project uses panels made in our factory in Treforest, supporting our skilled technicians and the local economy.
Project Etopia chose GB-Sol's class leading architectural solar options of edge-to-edge soalr PV Slates and the Infinity solar roof, to power its carbon positive show home.
Empty Home Grants are available throughout the Valleys taskforce area to provide grants of up to £25,000 to complete renovations, with £5000 of this reserved exclusively for renewable energy measures such as solar PV.
PV Slate is now available edge-to-edge. It is now almost impossible to distinguish GB-Sol's PV Slates from natural slates, as the system has been extended to be able to cover the whole roof.
GB-Sol first full roof PV Slate scheme has now been commissioned at Pilton Methodist Church Hall in Somerset, with the support of local architect Roger Barnes. 140 PV Slates were used, generating 3.85kWp of power and replacing 420 natural slates. The system works with a Tesla Powerwall installed by our friends Solarsense for a complete solar & battery system.
PV Slate creates stunning roofs that have the look and feel of natural slate combined with the hidden electricity generating power of high efficiency solar cells. PV Slates can also be fitted right alongside natural slates and come with a 25 year warranty.
Manufactured in Wales, the GB-Sol PV Slates have been designed and independently tested to withstand the extremes of the UK weather. Popular with UK Local Authority planning departments, churches and listed buildings: PV Slate is the perfect solution where aesthetics are vitally important.
GB-Sol installs another striking edge to edge Roof Integrated System (RIS) roof, turning a new garage’s roof into a powerful solar generator.
GB-Sol is working within Government guidelines to minimise the effect of Covid-19, but we remain open to service the needs of our customers.
A recent addition to our portfolio of PV Slate projects is this garden workshop in rural Oxfordshire. On receipt of the project brief from the client, GB-Sol designed a PV system based on the dimensions of the new-build structure. The size of the building allowed for a 2.2kW system - modest but very effective for a building of this size. The PV Slate complements the Welsh Cwt-y-Bugail natural slate that borders the entire PV Slate array. The client selected a Solar Edge inverter and the entire system was designed, supplied and installed by GB-Sol.
