GB-Sol powers a world record attempt

Wednesday, 09 May 2018

GB-Sol is proud to be supporting California Polytechnic State University’s (Cal Poly) attempt at breaking a world speed record.

Cal Poly’s PROVEN lab are targeting speeds of 65 mph in their solar car “Dawn” using only solar powered propulsion. Unlike commercially available electric or hybrid cars, "Dawn" has no batteries, no engines, simply 100% solar PV propelled.

GB-Sol was involved in manufacturing the solar PV element of the innovative design and works with a variety of different companies to provide bespoke PV solutions from our manufacturing base in South Wales.

Having unveiled their final car design, the stage is set for Cal Poly’s world record attempt in California this June.
